Do prime numbers occur in some order or purely at random? In 1859, a German mathematician named Bernhard Riemann thought he had the answer; unfortunately he also had no proof. THE RIEMANN HYPOTHESIS spans the following 140 years as mathematicians all over the globe have struggled to prove Riemann right, which would allow them then to predict the placement of prime numbers from here to infinity.
